Copper Strips
Using Copper Strips on your roof is an excellent choice for roof cleaning maintenance. We offer two means of preventative maintenance. We use "Spray and Forget" for our customers after a two year period for prevention of fungus return, along with another 2 year guarantee with the application.
This year, after doing a great deal of research, asking questions, and seeing the results, we have decided to offer placement of copper strips on your roof after it has been washed.
Zinc strips simply DO NOT work. See our pictures in the Gallery section. Copper strips will work for a minimum of 5 Years, and in many cases are chosen as a preventative measure for a newer roof.

It has been proven that Gloeocapsa Magma, the algae that causes these roof stains, can not live in the presence of copper. It's like Kryptonite to Superman! In the past few years, the shingle manufacturers have started to produce Algae Resistant shingles - or "AR" for short. These special shingles have flecks of copper that are coated with ceramic. How these work, along with the copper strips, is that every time it rains, trace elements of the copper are released in the form of ions. These ions wash over the algae and fungus and kill it. If you need to replace your roof, these type of shingles would be a good choice. But, for regular maintenance, copper strips will do the trick! However, it is important to note that the roof must be cleaned first, then use the copper strips to help keep it away.
